Life Changing Summer Shelter OPEN

Life Changing Summer Shelter Open

It’s May 1 and we have switched over to our life changing summer shelter program for adult men. These men work on step by step goals towards gaining employment, improving overall health and starting a financial savings plan. The ultimate goal is for each man to attain and sustain in stable housing.

Tonight, 28 men will check in and receive their bed assignment/storage tote and begin their journey. They are hoping to obtain self sufficiency and stable housing. While each journey is different, each man will be required to maintain sobriety, obtain employment, save 70% of their income, volunteer and keep appointments.  If a guest is not able to work and are on disability or applying for disability, they will be required to volunteer 10 hours per week.  While in shelter, they will be doing “house chores” in order to learn the soft skills to make them successful after leaving shelter. Their bed becomes their own during their journey and with the assistance of the staff, they will have weekly check in’s to ensure progress is being made.

Last summer, 106 men entered this program and 47 found housing! That is 44% success!

 How can you help?

Volunteers are needed to provide an evening meal and can be done on here. OR you can volunteer in shelter by emailing Brittney Kane at brittney.kane@esnky.net.

Want to host a material donation drive?  Our needs list has our daily use items for both the evening shelter and our shower/laundry program.

If you would prefer to financially support men going homeless to housed, a $20 donation covers the cost of one man per night and can be accepted via paypal.
