Volunteer Spotlight: Janet Robinson and Trinity Episcopal Church
Jun 29, 2026

For Janet Robinson, volunteering at the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky began with a simple desire to help people in her own community. When the church she was attending was sold, Janet began looking for a meaningful way to serve those who were less fortunate, and the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky became a place where she could put her faith and compassion into action. Now she organizes a group of parishioners and volunteers from Trinity Episcopal Church in Covington, Ky. to provide a meal to guests at ESNKY the third Saturday of every month.
Janet’s volunteer work is rooted in care, gratitude, and a willingness to step in wherever help is needed. She especially enjoys cooking, but her commitment goes beyond preparing meals. Whether she is helping in the kitchen or supporting the shelter in another way, Janet brings a spirit of service that reflects her belief that communities are strongest when people look out for one another.
Some of the most meaningful moments for Janet come from the people she serves. Hearing a simple “Thank You” or “God Bless You” from shelter guests has made a lasting impact on her. Janet says those moments remind her how fortunate she is and deepen her appreciation for the importance of helping others.
Volunteering has also shaped the way Janet sees community needs. Her time at the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky has reinforced her belief that people should do all they can to support those who are facing hardship. For her, service is not just about meeting an immediate need; it is about recognizing the dignity of each person and responding with kindness.
What Janet finds most rewarding is knowing that the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky provides real care for the people who stay there. She says she is grateful to be even a small part of that work. Through her volunteer service, Janet and volunteers from Trinity Episcopal Church help extend compassion, comfort, and hope to our neighbors who need it most.
