Volunteer Spotlight: Christe Casebolt and The Point Arc of Northern Kentucky

Once a month, Christe Casebolt helps organize a small group of adults from The Point Arc of Northern Kentucky to volunteer at the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky. Since 2025, their visits have brought more than helping hands to the shelter—they have brought heart, determination, pride, and a powerful reminder that everyone has something meaningful to give.

Christe connected with ESNKY through The Point Arc’s Day Program for adults with intellectual disabilities as she looked for new opportunities for her friends at The Point Arc to give back to their community in a hands-on, meaningful way.

Her decision to reach out to the shelter was also personal. Years earlier, Christe heard about the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky when the organization helped her uncle get back on his feet. When she began looking for volunteer opportunities for her friends in the Day Program, ESNKY came top of mind.

“Each time we visit, your staff is so friendly and the clients that you support are so appreciative of the work my friends do for them, going out of their way to thank each of them personally,” shares Christe.

Those moments of gratitude have stayed with Christe. Seeing her friends acknowledged for their service affirms the value of the work they are doing and the connections they are building within the community.

“It is about their passion to help others,” Christe explains. “They bring heart, determination and pride in what they can do for others.”

For Christe, one of the most rewarding parts of volunteering is watching her friends show the community what they are capable of when given the opportunity.

“Watching my friends volunteer has shown the community that everyone, given a chance, can support others in need,” says Christe. “Too often, others like my friends are viewed by their disability, and not by what they can accomplish or give back.”

Christe says volunteering at ESNKY has also changed her perspective on the needs within our community.

“Having this opportunity has shown me just how big the homeless population has become and what it takes to even support the ones you can,” says Christe.

Through Christe’s leadership and the commitment of The Point Arc volunteers, their monthly visits show the lasting impact that can be made when people are welcomed, encouraged, and given the chance to serve.
