November Newsletter

“It’s not the happiness that brings us gratitude. It’s gratitude that brings us happiness.” - AnonymousI read this quote recently and it hit home with me. Every day, we see and hear the gratitude from our guests for each of the acts of kindness given to our mission and it brings us much happiness and hope for the future. On behalf of everyone here at ESNKY, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving, and know that we are thankful for each and every one of you who supports our mission. With gratitude & faith,

Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week Brings the Community Together

ESNKY welcomed support from across Northern Kentucky in honor Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, which was recognized from November 17th to 23rd. Kenton County Fiscal Court issued a proclamation and the Class of Leadership Northern Kentucky stopped by to learn more about homelessness, shelter and income-aligned housing. Thank you to everyone who wore purple and shared our social media posts with friends!

Introducing “Making Spirits Bright”

This winter season, ESNKY will feature stories of our guests, programs and community members who are “Making Spirits Bright.”From guest success stories to volunteer spotlights and more, join ESNKY as we “Make Spirits Bright” together over the holidays.

Giving Tuesday is almost here!

Tuesday, December 3rd is Giving Tuesday, a great opportunity to show you support giving to the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky! Help make spirits bright this holiday season by making a gift. To make a secure online donation, click here. With a critical lack of income-aligned housing in our community, ESNKY continues to fill important gaps in service for our guests. The basic human dignities of a warm bed to sleep in and a hot shower (among other programs & services) are essential for our guests this holiday season. Chip in and support today!

Did You Know?

Older adults are the fastest-growing age group of those experiencing homelessness, composing nearly half of the homeless population, according to an October 2023 Department of Health and Human Services HHS report. And the number of older adults experiencing homelessness is expected to triple by 2030. Our FY24 data shows that 26% of our guests were over the age of 55 and we have adapted new strategies to support them.
