We Are Hiring a Daytime Navigation & Engagement Center Specialist

The Daytime Navigation & Engagement Center Specialist will help guests of shelter obtain necessary documents, work one-on-one to develop individual case plans, and help bridge the gap between guests and access to resources to help end their homelessness. The Daytime Navigation & Engagement Center Specialist must be adept at problem solving, researching community resources, and connecting shelter guests to other support services.  This full-time, non-exempt position reports to ESNKY’s Operations Manager and follows a Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm work schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as a care coordinator with guests accessing shelter and Daytime Navigation & Engagement Center.
  • Assess guest needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals.
  • Find available resources & provide referrals to agencies and continue to advocate on behalf of the guest.
  • Work with individuals accessing shelter & services to obtain necessary documents, such as ID’s, birth certificates, and social security cards.
  • Help guests adjust to the changes and challenges in their lives including homelessness, unemployment, substance abuse, recovery, and family issues.
  • Explore housing barriers, assist with housing searches and property owner advocacy for emergency shelter and Daytime Navigation & Engagement Center guests and complete necessary documentation.
  • Use Clarity online database daily to complete and maintain accurate guest records to document services provided. This includes live intake whenever possible, Vi-SPDT, and all other internal reports.
  • Identify and schedule community partners to be onsite to assist guests by using a community partner room and maintain the community partner room online calendar.
  • Maintain relationships with outside agencies, volunteers, community partners and attend external community meetings as determined by Operations Manager and Program Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with all ESNKY direct service staff as it relates to guest care.
  • Support the daily operations of the shelter as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other meetings within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in social work or related field from an accredited school or high school
    diploma/GED equivalent with at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, mental
    health, and/or criminal justice system preferred.
  • Priority given to those candidates with lived experience.
  • Candidate must have reliable transportation since this is a direct service position onsite.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and make independent decisions aligned with ESNKY vision &
    values of trust, respect, and dignity of everyone that walks in our doors.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and problem solving with ability to diffuse situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Teams, especially Excel or related data systems. Experience in
    Clarity or other homeless information management systems a plus.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with a diverse population with many needs and backgrounds.

Physical Requirements (time spent performing requirements %)

  • Must be able to lift 20+ lbs.
  • Walking including bending and twisting– 60%
  • Sitting – 40%
  • Work on computer several hours a day

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $15-$17 per hour.
Benefits will include paid time off for vacation and illness, 9 paid holidays annually and cell phone reimbursement. Preference will
be given to individuals who have qualifications beyond the minimum.
