Emergency Shelter of NKY is now hiring!

ESNKY is a life saving, life changing low barrier shelter in NKY that serves adult men and women experiencing homelessness since 2008.

We are hiring a full time salaried Shelter Operations Manager to join our family. This position is responsible for managing all day to day shelter operations including planning, organizing and supervising to ensure efficiency and adherence to policies.  Details are listed below. Job Description

• Provide day to day leadership and management that is in line with our mission

• Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of ESNKY program policies and procedures to ensure staff, volunteers, guests, and visitors are in adherence

• Responsible for daily operations of shelter including cleanliness, safety, and security of facility to ensure the building and facilities are maintained as necessary to provide a safe and effective environment for employees, guests, volunteers, and visitors

• Directly manage team of advocates and all support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, development, payroll, and disciplinary action

• Coordinate volunteer cultivation efforts including recruiting, training, supervision, and scheduling to support staff and guests

• Coordinate cultivation efforts for onsite student interns including recruiting, training, scheduling, supervision and all documentation

• Plan and conduct meetings and trainings for staff, volunteers, and students

• Maintain guest database by collecting client documentation and tracking outcomes in shelter data system for all program participants.

• Provide statistical demographic information on outcomes for grants, newsletters, compare to national benchmarks and prepare weekly operations report.

• Collaborate with community partners as part of a holistic strategy to engage guests with other services.
• Maintain inventory of shelter supplies and solicit donations for shelter operations

• Provide on-call support to staff

• Provide one-on-one program work with guests of the shelter, or when critical situations arise.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.

• Minimum of 2 years managing a team of at least 10 team members

• Minimum of 1 year running operations for an organization

• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, housing and or criminal justice system preferred.

• Must have valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record approved by ESNKY insurer.

• Work nights, weekends and holidays as needed

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and computer literacy skills

• Ability to exercise discretion and make independent decisions that are aligned with Executive Director’s vision and direction

• Experience in crisis intervention and problem solving with ability to diffuse situations

• Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel or related data system. Experience in KHMIS or other homeless data system a plus.

Physical Requirements ( time spent performing requirements %)

• Must be able to lift 20+ lbs.

• Walking including bending and twisting– 60%

• Sitting – 40%

• Work on computer several hours a day

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range: $44,000 – $47,000; benefits will include paid time off for vacation and illness, and others as negotiated. Preference will be given to individuals who present qualifications beyond the minimum.
