Life Saving, Life Changing

Summer 2022

Dear Friends:

While every year in shelter is special, this year is even more so.  Together we celebrated the move to our new home with 10,000 square feet of glorious space filled with amenities to take care of guests, plus we added new staff to help.  All the words shown at the right sum up how the community has made the staff feel, how we feel about you, and certainly how together we make our guests feel when they walk in the door.

We are proud that since November we have cared for 642 adults who have entered and spent 11,658 nights of sleeping in a bed.  Since April 1 the new Daytime Navigation & Engagement Center saw nearly 250 adults take over 600 showers, utilize self-service laundry, and connect with staff & community partners.  The step-up Work Program  continues to make strides as 29% of men entering the program achieve self-sufficiency through employment and housing.  We have also seen a 50% increase in men obtaining jobs while in shelter as employment agencies are using the community partner rooms to hire them and ID’s can now be obtained in Covington.  We know that employment leads to housing!

While statistics are good, every number has a name.  We cherish people like Joshua who remind us of all the things we do for our guests.  (Take a minute to watch the video below to hear what Joshua has to say.) Our commitment to NKY has remained steadfast and we continue to focus on what we do best.  We meet guests where they are at and give them the space to determine what they need for next steps.

The need for an immediate entrance shelter and a place that provides the basic necessities has never been as important as now. The lack of affordable housing has impacted our community and until our region begins to address that, our NKY neighbors will continue to need ESNKY to be the place for not only shelter & services, but where they feel valued and loved.

Your donation to support the shelter is tax-deductible. You can click this button to make a financial contribution online.

You can also contact our Development Manager, John Clancy, at (859) 291-4555 or john.clancy@esnky.net for help with a disbursement from your Donor-Advised Fund, a transfer of stock or securities or planned gifts.

Thank you for making us feel valued, cherished and loved,

Kim M. Webb
