The life changing summer shelter reduces homelessness in NKY and provides the pathway to gain employment, life skills and obtain and sustain in permanent housing. Our shelter is part of a larger effective crisis response system is able to identify and quickly connect people who are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness to housing assistance and other services. It works because it aligns a community, its programs and services around one common goal — to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring.
How do the dollars you donate help our Shelter?
- The unit cost for a guest to stay in our evening Shelter is currently $35 per night.
- The unit cost for guest to take a shower & have clothes laundered is $10 per visit

Unit Cost
How do the dollars you donate help our shelter? The unit cost for a guest to stay one night in our shelter is currently $30.00 per night and the cost to provide a shower/laundry services is $10 per guest. We derive our unit cost by the total cost of operations (utilities, water, phone, staffing) per night divided by the amount of guests we serve per night. We also factor in volunteer hours and food donations.
Our Monthly Bills
Our shelter is fortunate to have low costs as our building is owned by the Kenton County Fiscal Court and it is leased to us for $1.00. We also are blessed to have a majority of our material needs donated by the generosity of individuals, churches and businesses. Our expenses include utilities, phone, water/sewage, waste removal, insurance and staffing.

Kroger has a community rewards program that aids in our Shelter’s fundraising. If you shop at Kroger’s and have a Kroger plus card — a percentage of your purchases will come to our shelter on a quarterly basis. You do not pay extra – it’s a donation made from Kroger from your normal purchases. By registering your Kroger card and buying food for your family you enable the shelter to have money to provide food for others. We were blessed to receive nearly $3000 last year, so please sign up today!
