ESNKY is hiring for an Operations Manager!

Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky (ESNKY) operates the only low barrier shelter in Northern Kentucky for adult men and women experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to provide shelter which is life-saving in the winter and life-changing in the summer. We believe homelessness is an emergency and that shelter is a basic necessity for human beings. We believe that only when this basic necessity is provided, do human beings have the ability to recover from homelessness. This position will be instrumental in our success this winter and in helping us as we move to our permanent location in Summer of 2021. Come join our family!

Position Overview: This position is responsible for managing all shelter operations, ensuring that all policies and procedures are up to date and in accordance with organizational effectiveness of the shelter.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for daily operations of shelter including cleanliness, safety, and security of facility to ensure the building and facilities are maintained as necessary to provide a safe and effective environment for employees, clients, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Directly manage team of advocates and support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, development, budget, payroll, and disciplinary action.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and compliance of ESNKY and government programs, policies, and procedures and ensure clients, volunteers, and visitors are in adherence.
  • Maintain guest databases by collecting client documentation, and tracking outcomes in various data systems.
  • Provide statistical information on outcomes for grants, newsletters, and compare to national benchmarks and for organizational success.
  • Collaborate with community partners as part of a holistic, best practice strategy for clients and the mission.
  • Plan and conduct meetings and trainings for staff, volunteers, and students in conjunction with Executive Director.
  • Provide one-on-one program support to Shelter Service Coordinator and AmeriCorps Housing Specialist and guests when critical situations arise.
  • Coordinate volunteer & student intern efforts including recruiting, training, supervision, and scheduling to support staff and guests.
  • Maintain Inventory of shelter supplies and solicit donations for shelter operations.
  • Provide on call support to staff as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years managing a team of at least 10
  • Minimum of 1 year running operations for an organization, non-profit a plus.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, housing and or criminal justice system preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record approved by ESNKY insurer.
  • Ability to work effectively in constantly changing settings.
  • Ability to respond calmly and responsibly in emergency and crisis situations.
  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and treat each individual with respect, dignity and compassion.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as needed to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Provide on-call coverage for shelter staff.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and make independent decisions that are aligned with Executive Director’s vision and direction.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and problem solving with ability to diffuse situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel or related data system. Experience in Homeless Management Information System a plus.

Physical Requirements (time spent performing requirements %)

  • Must be able to lift 20+ lbs.
  • Walking including bending and twisting– 60%
  • Sitting – 40%
  • Work on computer several hours a day

Salary and Benefits:

This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range: $50,000 – $55,000; benefits will include paid time off for vacation and illness, and others as negotiated. Preference will be given to individuals who present qualifications beyond the minimum.
